Grammy and Papa Kaplan came to visit from Phoenix when Sam was 1 week old. The week was kind of a mixed bag of good and bad moments. Midway through their visit Lucas got very sick with Hand, Foot and Mouth Virus. Poor thing was miserable and had ulcers all over his mouth and throat. Needless to say this was very difficult to manage alongside a 10 day old. I couldn't have made it through the week without Les and my parents.
However prior to his illness we had a blast taking Lucas to see Thomas the Train. Lucas lite up like a Christmas tree the first time he was on the train for a ride. It was overall a perfect day. Lucas and Sam really enjoyed spending time with my parents. Lucas now refuses to play truck with anybody but my dad. :) It was really amazing to see the bond my mom and Sam formed too. We can't wait to have them back for Thanksgiving...hopefully that gathering everyone will be healthy.
