On March 28th 2011, we officially broke ground on our dream home. It has definitely been a long road of designing the house, getting it approved by the neighborhood, obtaining our construction loan and the most tedious of all, city permits. I have to start by saying that we have the most amazing builder in this world and we couldn't be more pleased with how fast and efficient he and his crew (especially his wife) have been thus far. Our builder has made everything flow so well, making this process that we have never done before, so much easier. Excavation is so far going incredibly well, much better then we orginally thought given the rock we were concerned about. The soil is rich and so far all the rock found has broken up very easily. In fact, we are hoping that by next week, I may be taking some pictures of the foundation. We were honored to have the Paraschos family in town on the day we broke ground...we definitely think they brought us some good luck. :) Below are some pictures we have taken over the last week. You can see the progression by the order of pictures.
Day 1 of excavation: We truly felt like we were on cloud 9 when we pulled up the lot and finally saw that they broke ground. HOORAY!!! :)
Lucas and Sam were so excited to see the trucks in action...every little boys dream come true. Right now, my dream come true too, ha ha!
One week into excavation and so far so good. This is the garage and part of the basement dug out. Almost all the trees have been cleared at this point.
