A Special Visit From Papa Kaplan

Last weekend, we had a very special visit from our beloved Papa Kaplan. My dad, for the first time without my mom, flew to come visit us from Phoenix. My mom was definitely missed, but she couldn't come as she was visiting her sister in Baltimore that same weekend. The fact that dad came on his own meant the world to all of us. He made us feel so special and we are so grateful for his visit. His 4 days with us flew by because we had an absolute BLAST!!!  Of course, his first reason to visit was to see all of us, but I also have to admit another reason was because he couldn't wait to see the construction of our new house. Now that the house was framed and even with a roof on it, we made that our first stop and it was really cool walking him through the house.  He gave us lots of ideas and suggestions and we appreciate his expertise for sure. We made several trips to see the new house, but we also did a ton of other things. Les and Dad took in some golfing (we are so proud of how awesome my dad did golfing just one year post his surgery). We also made a visit to the zoo and science museum which the boys loved getting to share with Papa. We ate out great and even took dad to our monthly dinner club that we do with the neighborhood we will be moving too....was really fun to introduce my dad to all of our future neighbors. Most importantly, I'm so grateful for the quality time Papa got to spend wtih Lucas and Sam. He is very loved and the feelings are obviously mutual. I have a lot of joy watching Papa play and laugh with Lucas and Sam. I can see how much they light up each others world and it makes me so happy. I just wish they could play more often, but we are so grateful for the times we do get to share together. Now that Papa has gone home, he is misssed by all of us. Dad, thank you for your visit....please, please know that you're welcome to come back anytime. We love you so much and love the memories we made with you last weekend. Can't wait to see you (and of course mom too) in San Diego next month, hooray! :)

I love this pictures of Papa and Lucas at the zoo. Lucas is quit the "Papas boy" and he was on cloud 9 with Papa in town. I think he would have traveled home in his suitcase if he could, ha!
