I have to say most of our Hawaii time was spent at the beautiful beach or pool, but that is exactly how we like it! :) Lucas is becoming quit the little fish and he can't seem to get enough of the water and especially the "pink hotels water slide" as he calls it. Lucas and Daddy have continued their tradition of being each others swim buddies and these two were seen at the pool or beach almost every afternoon. Between the strong sun and chilly pool water (I know Hawaii, but yikes that water was cold this time) Sam usually watched from the side and in the shade, but he thought Lucas going down the slide was hilarious. Les spent a lot of time working on Lucas' actual swimming, which has totally helped him in his swim lessons now that we are home. Below are a few of the many poolside pictures we took. :)
A quick picture of us in between beach and pool.
I usually would stay back in the grass with Sam while Les took Lucas down to the beach. Sam does not like to be held for long and was really wanting to get down and crawl in the sand. (staying put on a blanket not an option, ha). I was not quit ready to let my 9 month old roll around in sand, ha ha! :)
Daddy and Lucas right before hitting some waves and playing in the sand at the beach. Lucas is still such a Daddy's boy and only wanted him to go down to the beach, so sweet.
Lucas and Daddy stepping into the ocean.
Lucas was really into the whole hot tub idea, but we only allowed him to sit and put his feet in it, maybe next year he can go in further! :)
Lucas' favorite part of the whole pool thing....THE SLIDE!!! He was still really good at going down all by himself (of course we yet again were catching him at the bottom). I could hear him laughing from the top of the slide all the way to the bottom when we would catch him. He did the slide so much that the lifegaurd at the top was on first name basis with him by the weeks end. Pretty often Lucas would go up there and take so long that we would check on him and he would be just talking with the lifegaurd for a while before going down, so funny! :)
Daddy catching Lucas at the bottom with Jillian close by.
Fun at the pool with Daddy.
Daddy made sure to also work on Lucas' actual swimming technique while in Hawaii, especially since he was about to start some hard core swim lessons. Daddy and Lucas practiced swimming almost everyday we were there.
Lucas has gotten really good at independently using his arms and legs while swimming. If he could just remember to keep his mouth closed and not swallow water he would be pretty much ready to do it himself.
This is pretty much where Sam hung out at the pool....in the shade and with his little hat. Between him being so much more fair than Lucas and the water actually pretty chilly, we usually kept him clear of the pool (yes, I'm a little over protective, even with number 2, ha).
Sam had fun watching big brother Lucas in the pool. Next year, we will get him in the water a lot more. We did put him the pool a couple times, but he would get cold very fast, poor baby!
