A Day For Flying Kites

We recently bought Lucas a kite because everytime we are at the park on a windy day, he can't seem to take his eyes off all the kites in the sky. A couple times, really nice kids would even let Lucas trying flying their kites and he loved it. As you can imagine, it is hard to explain to a 3 year old that the brand new kite he has can't be flown on just any old day, we must have wind! He has been very patient over the last week and everyday would ask "is it windy today"? Sooo, last week, we finally had a little wind....like I said "a little". Les came home from work and thought maybe it would be a good day to try out Lucas' kite. We really wanted to make it happen for our little guy, so we headed down the road to the best open field we could find and tried to fly that kite. The problem was that the wind we did have was just in temporary gusts and not enough to get the kite too high in the sky. It didn't seem to matter to Lucas, he was just excited to try it out and hold the string. Les is such an awesome daddy and would not give up until his little boy could see that kite fly and it finally did. Below are some pictures of our kite attempts. It was such a beautiful spring day, so I also grabbed a few random shots of the boys as well. Most of the pictures of Lucas I took, I'm saving for his big 4-year old post. :)

Sort of getting the kite to fly....could have used a little more sustained wind. :)

Our first family attempt to fly a kite.

Daddy tried so hard to get the kite high in the sky. He did very well.

Daddy's little helper, Lucas.

While we could never get the kite too high, we all had a good job being outside in this beautiful weather.

Sam "trying" to help....he kept pulling on the end of the kite, which didn't help the cause, ha!

Lucas doing such a good job flying the kite.

Hooray, it's finally staying up high in the sky.

"Oh, wow" says Sam while watching the kite.

Some cute brothers playing in the grass.

Was the perfect day to get some pictures of the boys outside.

A break from kite flying for a quick shot.

Lucas chasing the kite and having a blast.

Love these boys!

My little boy finally had his day flying his new kite.

I love it! Evie wants a kite too. Lucas looks very happy and proud! Maybe we will have a windy day soon just for Lucas. I LOVE seeing how much Lucas and Sam love each other. Can't wait for some of those cute pictures myself.
