On one of the days we were in Williamsburg, we hopped in the car and drove another 2.5 hours North to spend the day in Washington DC. Let me begin by saying, that was one long day! We spent about 11 hours walking around and seeing as many sites that we could possibly cram into one day. Of course, you need more then one day in DC, but we did the best we could and hope to return sometime soon. The kids loved the concept of the Subway and had a great time zooming around town. We managed to take in Arlington Cemetary, the Air and Space Museum, the Capital and Washington Monument. I have to get on a soap box for my children just for a second to express how proud I was of the both of them. It was certainly a long day for a 5 and 8 year old and they did fantastic, they seemed to enjoy learning about our Nation's Capital and took in the beauty of this amazing city. I loved every second of exploring Washington DC with my family, my boys are at such a fun age for this place. Lastly, another high light of the day was my visit with my Aunt Heather, she lives in MD and only about an hour away and was kind enough to drive to DC to see all of us. We had a great time catching up and having dinner together. I truly hope to return sometime again soon!
