The Lenning Family: Happy 4th Birthday Lucas

Dear Lucas,

Happy 4th Birthday sweet boy. I can't believe that it has been 4 years since you gave me the greatest gift of a lifetime, become a mommy and especially a mommy to you. You had a rough first 3 months of life as your tummy constantly hurt, which hurt my heart as well. After 3 months and you felt better, your awesome personality exploded and amazed me as it continues to amaze me today. You have the greatest spirit and personality, a true heart of gold. I always say to myself, everybody needs a little Lucas in their life and it couldn't be more true. You love all people and welcome everybody to your life with open arms and the greatest smile I have ever seen. Lucas, you have so many friends that love to be around you and it gives me so much joy to see you interact so well with your peers. You should know that the teacher you will be having for pre-K next year actually came up to me to request you to be in her class, what an awesome feeling that gave me as your mommy...just to know you are loved by so many because you're such a great kid.

You definitely are sensitive and while it can get the best of you at times, I know this is a trate that will only better you down the road (your future wife will definitely appreciate it, ha). You also have inherited the Kaplan/Lenning pefectionist or Type A trate...yes, again this gets the best of you at times, but someday this will be a trate that gets you many places in life and we are so grateful that you are a little boy that knows what he wants and will never give up on his dreams. Lucas, you're so intelligent and I'm pretty sure there is nothing in this world you won't be able to do.

Lucas, you also have this incredibly comical side to you and there is not a day that goes by where you don't make all of us laugh. You're smile lights up the room and your laugh is infectious. You're almost always happy and it doesn't seem to take much to please you. One of your most admired roles right now is that of being big brother to Sam. You're honestly the best big brother that little guy could have ever asked for. Yes, you two have your moments of battle, but overall you get along so well and the love I see that you have for Sam just melts my heart. When you take his hand to hold it in the car, it truly brings tears of joy to my eyes.

Lucas, there aren't enough words to possibly describe how much I love you. Your daddy and I couldn't be more proud of the little boy you have become. You definitely make me a better person and the world a better place. We feel so blessed to get to be your parents. We love you so much and hope you have had the most wonderful 4th birthday! You deserved it buddy! :)
