New House Update: Foundation

As we are just a little over one month into the construction of our new home, I thought it was time for a little update. Other then rain for the last 10/14 days, which has hindered some progression of the foundation, things are going great and moving along as fast as possle. Our greatest house news thus far is that excavation was completed and a total success....a huge horray!! :) When we finally did hit substatial rock, it was at the point that we were deep enough to lay the foundation (laying foundation on rock is a great scenario). In fact, because the soil was so rock free we were able to dig out a full basement. Currently, they have been working on our foundation for the last 2 weeks (pictures below). Like I said, the rain has really slowed down their ability to lay the foundation, but with some sunny days forcasted this next week, hopefully it will get completed so we can start framing. :) So far, all the rebar or basment walls have been layed and tomorrow they are suppose to pour some concrete. The pictures aren't too exciting yet, but it's still fun to see it in stages. We have also started picking out some things for the house, which has been really exciting (yet stressful too, hope it looks good). We have picked out our stone, brick, roof and trim (will try and find pictures with examples). Just a few days ago, we picked out all of our plumbing fixtures as well (whew, that was some hard choices and we were at the place for like 3 hours).

Working on the rebar, otherwise known as the basement walls. Here they are pretty much done and waiting on some sunshine to pour the concrete slabs.

Kind of cool to see the shape of the turit, this is the basement level of turit.

So hard to believe that all of those other pictures will soon become this. Keeping the end product in mind. For some reason, this picture is all distorted, will hope the actual house is a little more even. :)
