Minnesota Trip: Fishing And Fun In Alexandria

Our final stop during our Minnesota trip was to Alexandria to visit with Steve and Jane Herth (Lonna's brother and sister-in-law). We always love our time spent with Steve and Jane. They live in a beautiful house on the lake and showed us amazing hospitality the entire 3 days we were with them. Steve and Jane are so much fun to be around and I truly wished we lived closer to them. Other then the terrible biting flies, ha ha, the weather and entire atmosphere at the lake was beautiful.  We spent a lot of time eating good food and relaxing at their house as well as taking a few ventures out on the lake with their boat. Lucas and Sam got to try out fishing for the first time and it was a total blast for everyone.  Below are a ton of pictures from our fishing ventures and a few I took just lounging around. Steve and Jane, Thank you for an awesome time. We can't wait to see you at Christmas (hopefully in our new house). :)

Uncle Steve giving Lydia and Lucas some fishing tips before heading off on their excursion.

Sammy having some fun in the sun.

Lucas having quality time with Aunt Jane...we LOVE Aunt Jane!!

A very popular Uncle Layne with Lydia, Lindsay and Lucas.

Setting out on a boating excursion.

My little nautical Lucas.

Lucas and daddy getting read to do some fishing.

A sweet shot with my husband.

Fishing 101 with Uncle Layne.

My little fisherman Lucas with daddy trying to catch their first fish.

Lucas looked so cute with his life vest and fishing pole in hand.

First caught (and later released) fish of the day....I believe Layne caught this first fish.

Eek...Lucas holding his slippery friend. We did end up throwing him back in the water.

"I'm never going to catch a fish"....this was hilarious!! Lucas learned very quickly that fishing requires some patience in that you don't always catch a fish right away. That is a hard concept for an eager 4 year old. So, this was Lucas being all sad that he didn't catch a fish...he did cheer up pretty quicly once Uncle Steve asked him if he wanted to drive the boat.

This was Les' first catch (now you know why Lucas got sad, ha ha)...yay daddy, a big piece of weed. :)

My sweet boy cheered up very quickly once he got to navigate the boat with Uncle Steve.

Driving the boat....he did a great job steering!

Even Sammy getting a chance to fish.

Hooray for daddy and Lucas...they finally caught a fish!

Sam and Grandma after their fishing trip.

Story time with Uncle Steve! If you read a book to Sam, he will instantly be your best friend, ha!

Piano lessons with Aunt Jane! Good times! :)
