A Special Day For A Special Boy

On April 24th, my amazing son Lucas turned 5 years old. I will be doing a his letter and birthday party post after this one. I just wanted to share a ton of pictures from his actual birthday, which was on a Tuesday, but proved to be a very special day. Of course Grammy was here from Phoenix (Papa Kaplan flew in the next day) and Grandma and Papa Lenning drove up from Alabama to celebrate Lucas' actual birthday. Lucas is obviously very, very loved by everybody and he felt so special that all of his grandparent's could come together in honor of him. I believe 5 is a very special age, quite a milestone in itself, so I believed in making this birthday extremely special for Lucas. He woke up to tons of birthday presents and a delicious breakfast. He then got to plan out the entire day! Lucas chose to return to the Discovery Center, then have lunch and ice cream at Culver's, go home for more presents and a scavenger hunt from Grandma and Papa, finally a nice dinner at Logan's (his favorite restaurant).  The following night, when Papa Kaplan arrived, we went to the Karp's for dinner and ice cream cake. It was a very fun birthday for our very special boy! :)
Going to bed for the last time as a 4 year old...mommy was sniff, sniff.

Waking up as a 5 year old and to lots and lots of birthday presents...lucky boy!

So happy to share his actual birthday with Papa Lenning (Grandma was here too).

Can't believe I have a 5 year old!

Random place for him to pop a squat and play, but hey, it's his birthday!

Lots of fun opening new toys!

Daddy's boy...so glad daddy was off to celebrate Lucas real birthday.

Sam was so cute because he knew it was Lucas' birthday and it was almost like he was so excited for Lucas. Sam woke up and passed gifts to Lucas for him to open. Of course, Sam enjoyed playing with Lucas' new toys too, but he was so good about letting Lucas open them all by himself. What a sweet little brother!

Sam had to get a couple presents of his own...he is such a good little brother!

A big and fun gift from Grammy. So happy she too was here to celebrate Lucas' actual birthday.

We love Grandma and Papa!

Truly the best 2 Grandma's in the world...these boys are so incredibly lucky to have 2 very devoted and loving Grandma's.

Love my birthday boy soooooo much!

For Lucas' actual birthday....he chose to go to the Discovery Center. This time he had  his Grandma, Grammy, Papa, Sam, Mommy and Daddy along side. What a very special day! We had so much fun at the museum. All the pictures below are from our day at the Discovery Center.

And there is Sam again, spending the day on this excavator...wonder if I can buy one for home, haha!

After the Discovery Center, Lucas chose to have lunch at Culver's...yummy!

And home again for more play!

Grandma had such a clever idea on how to reveal their big gift: Lucas would do a scavenger hunt! Here was where he started with clue number 1.

In the elevator to find his next clues. Was such a cute idea and Lucas had so much fun.

Next clue...

More clues....

Another clue...

And down to the garage to find his big surprise: A new bike, hooray!

That night Lucas chose to go to his favorite, Logan's for dinner!

He loved the singing, was a little shy, but had a huge smile on his face.

This was Lucas' ice cream cake and actually the next night when we celebrated Lucas' birthday again at the Karps house...with Lucas best friend Sean.

Happy Birthday sweet, sweet Lucas...we love you so very much!

Loving his new telescope from the Karps!
